last week my son and i visited your museum, unfortunately at the 12th of april, as well as the day before, no one was there to grand us entrance which was a shame, i must say.
Somebody even left a written message at the gate expressing his disappointment......
I hope to be able to visit again in summertime, hopefully the museum will be open then.....

The Past May I was waiting my Baltic air flight to some where, and I decide to visit the museum, I spent soemthing like two hrs, taking some photos, really nice collection.
In my oppinion needs some more care, this is History.

I visited the museum in august 2007. Real nice collection, only hoped the TU-22 would be accesable. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE MUSEUM IS CLOSED DURING THE WEEKEND!!! And open on monday's contrary to the information on this website!

Dear Mr. Vilnins,
on my research for my AK-59P astro compass, I found your email adress on the front cover of the manual for this instrument.
I'm a retired airline pilot and was on active duty during the years 1958 until 1995 with Lufthansa German Airlines. During this time, on long range flights we used the Mk II US-made astro compass.
Recently I was able to buy the AK-59P instrument. A very interesting astro compass. Unfortunately the mountig base ( Nr. 19 and 21 on the drawing) is missing, but is absolutely necesssary for my observations. The compass fits onto the Mk II base, but is not correctly aligned.
I wonder if you know where to find one ? Maybe the Riga Aviation Museum can help.

I visited the museum whit wife and son (boy) in 17 august 2010.
I have payed 20 euro for three persons ticket but I received only two tickets. I now that other people don't pay tichets but I don't speak russian (I'm italian) and so ...
The museum is open air and very small. The airplanes and the helicopters are in very bad state. I think it don't merits to be visit. |
